With 78 players divided into 39 teams and sunny skies, it was yet another success for the 12th Kalachuchi Classic held at the Calatagan Golf Club in Batangas last April 28, 2012, Saturday.

Old and new champions prevailed after completing the 18-Hole Best Ball Play. Last year’s Overall Net Team Champion Allan Chua and Fr. Edgar Villostas managed to maintain their title with 51 points, as well as Overall Gross Team defending champion Phillip Brodett and Rolly Viray with 72 points.

The tournament that started at 6:00 a.m. and ended at 1:30 p.m. was followed by the awarding of winners presented by Calatagan Golf Club President Antonio Cojuangco, General Manager Dave Hernandez, and Director Maan Honteveros.

Before the main event, a putting contest was held Friday night where Natalio Seña won first place while Eric Gustillo and Rico Robles were declared second place and third place, respectively.

The success of the event showed that the tournament’s goal—to strengthen the unity and promote camaraderie among the members and guests—was achieved. It is no doubt that the next Kalachuchi Classic is another big event that each member and guest will look forward to.

• 18 Hole stroke play Two (2) players Team event, full handicap. Aggregate Stableford points system will be used.

The 11th Kalachuchi Classic held last May 1, 2011 at the Calatagan Golf Club saw a roster of new champions and familiar names on top spots.

Of the 124 members and guests who signed up for this year’s 18-hole Best Ball Play, defending champions Philip Brodett and Rolly Viray managed to keep their reign as the overall gross team champions.

This year’s tournament welcomed Alan Chua and Fr. Edgar Villostas as the overall net team champions taking the place of previous winners Antonio Otayza and Antonio Hernandez.

Winners remained resolute amid slight rain showers on the last crucial holes of the game.

In the end, Tim Watt and Neil Howard were declared Group 1 champions, 1st Runners Up were William Bailey and Rodney Hall, and Benjie Macalalad and Glenn Vasquez were 2nd Runners up.

Group II champions were Obet Alvarez and Emmanuel Juliano, 1st Runners Up were Natalio Seña and Ervin Nocum and James Yeo and Mina Watt were 2nd Runners Up.

Group III champions were Louie Ysmael and Chito Melo, 1st Runners Up were Dan delos Reyes and Alvin Erni and Henry Hagedorn and Macky Cui were 2nd Runners Up.

Declared Class champions for the Guest Division were Bing Tolentino and Ped Suministrado, Jake Buenaflor and Garp Winkle as 1st Runners up and Patrick Tabuena and Ronal Nuñez as 2nd Runners Up.

At the putting contest held the night before the tournament, Albert NG. Garcia won first place, 2011 gross champion Rolly Viray bagged 2nd place and Rico Robles took third place.

It was a tough competition on the course but the players bid the 11-hour tournament goodbye with distinct comradeship and higher anticipation for what’s in store for them come next tournament.

The Board of Directors is delighted to announce the 11th Kalachuchi Classic to be held on April 30, 2011 (Saturday).

The 11th Kalachuchi Classic will be 2 players Team Event. Teams may be made up of any combination i.e. Member/Member, Member/Dependent, Member/Guest, Dependent/Guest and Guest/Guest. Maximum Handicap for Male member is 27, Female member is 36; and Male guest is 18, Female guest is 22. For Guest/Guest combination there will be a separate division. The tournament will be an 18-hole Best Ball Play. Stableford Scoring System will be used.

Participating teams will be divided into 3 Groups. The first 33% based on combined Handicaps will compose Group I, the next 33% becomes Group II, and the third 33% Group III. Winners will be as follows: CHAMPION, 1st RUNNER UP and 2nd RUNNER UP for each division and each will be awarded trophies. Also, there will be Ladies Division, CHAMPION, RUNNER UP for member/member, member/guest.

There will be an OVERALL GROSS TEAM CHAMPION and an OVERALL NET CHAMPION.

There will be prizes at stake FOR HOLE-IN-One and NEAREST TO THE PIN ON PAR3’S. Raffle prizes will be given away to lucky participants who will attend the tournament and are present during the awarding ceremony.

Entry fee is P 3,500.00 for member/member, member/dependent, member/guest and dependent/guest; P4,000.00 for guest/guest. Inclusive of free one night stay @ the hotel on Friday evening (Apr 29) for the first 25 teams who sign up and 1 practice round to all registrants with paid entry fees. For those who weren’t able to use the free practice round before the tournament, it can still be availed on the day after the tournament. A total of 90 players and 45 teams saw action in what turned out to be an exciting day for the 2010 Chairman’s Cup at the Calatagan Golf Club.

After teeing off 6:30 a.m. of November 13 in the cool morning air of Calatagan, the day saw Raoul Jorge and Tony Olives as the Overall Gross Champion with 155 points and Ruben Macalalad and Mario Pradil as Overall Net Champion with 87 points.

The lovely Miss Bianca Zobel presented the awards to the winners which included Group I Champions Hubert Lim and Leo Bote with 79 points, Group I 1st Runner-up Jaime Alba and Mr. Zuluaga with 74 points and Group I 2nd Runner-up Tim Watt and Mina Watt with 69 points.

Group II winners were Rodney Hall and William Bailey, Champions with 76 points; Roberto Alvarez and Gen. Raul Bacalso, 1st Runner-up with 73 points; and Rosauro Sison and Jose Mendoza, 2nd Runner-up with 72 points.

Group III winners were Tony Hernandez and Col. Ricablanca, Champions with 85 points; Allan Chua and Fr. Ed Villostas, 1st Runner-up with 79-CB; and Henry Hagedorn and Enrique Moras, 2nd Runner-up with 79 points.

Guest winners were Bing Bunyi and Marco Olives, Champions with 71 points; Charlie Carmona and Dan Morales, 1st Runner-up with 69 points; and Joey Bantiling and Jay Cruz, 2nd Runner-up with 68 points.

The tournament finished at around 3 p.m. after all players completed all 18 holes. The day was wrapped up around 5 p.m. after all winners received their awards, and so too ended another successful year for the Chairman’s Cup at Calatagan Golf Club.

A downpour the day before the tournament was not enough to dampen the spirit of the 10th Kalachuchi Classic held at the Calatagan Golf Club in Batangas on May 1, 2010.

Declared overall gross team champions were Philip Brodett and Rolly Viray while the overall net team champions were Antonio Hernandez and Antonio Otayza.

Group I champions were Raoul Jorge and Tony Olives, followed by Rodney Hall and Greg Martin at 1st runner-up and Roberto Alvarez and Edgar Villostas at 2nd runner-up.

Group II champions were Ervin Nucum and Natalio Sena, followed by Jean Henri Lhuillier and Richard Santos at 1st runner-up and Theresa Howard and Bill Thompson at 2nd runner-up.

Group III champions were Rosauro Sison and Jose Mendoza, followed by Leslie Robinson and Adrian Mellor at 1st runner-up and Pong Pontiveros and Raul Bacalso at 2nd runner-up.

In the Guest Division, declared champions were Ruel de Castro and Rico Robles, while Jose Bantiling and Opie Nioko were at 1st runner-up while Rel Gomez and Bart Ronquillo were at 2nd runner-up.

In the putting contest, Aris Lara won first place while Joey Go and Fr. Edgar Villostas won second and third places, respectively.

It was once again a thrilling day at the Calatagan Golf Club and regular players look forward to next year’s Kalachuchi Classic.
